My own education at school was not a positive experience, being talked at. Not engaged in. I want my delegates to feel involved in the learning, that they can really understand and feel included. Understanding differences, be that cultural, learning pace, age and experience. I create an environment of trust, respect and where people feel comfortable to share and learn together from the outset.

I am passionate about using different methods of engagement during my learning. This could be individual reflective work, working in pairs, groups, whole group, on their own. They could be using the whiteboard, flipchart, presenting, acting, or using case studies and scenarios. A blend to suit the learning, not just thrown in for the sake of it. It has to feel engaging so people want to learn through the whole day. This includes in-person and online methods of delivery.

Learning has to be focused on the outcomes the organisation and the individual. I will clarify clearly with you to understand these, and ensure the learning is tailored to meet the desired outcomes. I will ensure I capture specific learning outcomes from individual delegates at the outset. Pre-work ahead of the learning may be beneficial. This will all be discussed and agreed before developing the requirements of the training for you.

I love a bit of creativity and fun in the learning space! This can vary from picture cards, LEGO, Endless Landscape Cards, word matching, use of metaphors, scenario-based exercises, games, drawing on flipcharts or the whiteboard to make people think, using a bamboo stick, snowballs in summertime, or using a football. These are used as appropriate to meet the learning outcomes.
Fidget toys always go out. It is always interesting how these are used to channel discomfort or excess energy effectively. Creativity is tailored to the group ... my ability as a trainer to think on my feet and adapt on the go is a core skill.
